By volunteering at Leerorkest (Learning Orchestra) you help us fulfill our vital mission of providing the transformative power of music education to children. Volunteers offer assistance at the instruments depot, during music class in schools and at events in many different capacities.

Most of our volunteer opportunities are at the instruments depot in Amsterdam East: administrative work, warehouse management, repairing and cleaning instruments and transport. We are also looking for volunteers at Leerorkest in Amsterdam Zuidoost: filming, editing, taking pictures, writing and administrative work. In schools in Amsterdam North, New West and Southeast we are looking for help during music lessons.

What’s in it for you?

Music not only benefits children, it also benefits your health and mood! Beside that you can help children grow and build their abilities. We believe kids do better in school and life when music is part of their education. Or maybe you are new in Amsterdam and would like to meet new people that share a love for music? Join us! Or maybe you do or do not play an instrument and would like to learn how you can repair all kinds of instruments? Or you’d like to build instruments? We will  teach you!

We are a social non-profit organisation that since 2005 inspires children to develop themselves through music lessons. By this we support families and local communities. We aim to actively contribute to a workplace and community where everyone feels included and valued. That’s why we are dedicated to foster an inclusive organisation that welcomes different perspectives and connects people with various backgrounds.

Open house december 7

December 7 2023 we’ll have open house from 2 pm – 4 pm. Meet us at the Instrument Depot, Batjanstraat 1 in Amsterdam. We’re looking forward to meet you! Just walk in and feel welcome!
